Govt scraps capital gains tax on foreign investment in Indian bonds

As reported by Markets-Economic Times
India will exempt foreign investors and the Bank for International Settlements from capital gains tax on government securities. This move aims to attract more stable foreign capital. The exemption takes effect from April 1, 2026. It is expected to improve post-tax returns for overseas investors. This will support greater participation in Indian government securities.
